Where is GTA 6 set?
GTA 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, a fictional version of Florida. The center of it all is Vice City, the Miami-style city first seen in GTA Vice City (2002), now in the present day.
Leonida is not one big city. It is split into regions linked by highways, bridges, rivers and long rural roads. Jason and Lucia's story stretches across the whole state.
The six regions of the GTA 6 map

Vice City
The heart of the map and where most of the trailers take place. Expect beaches, clubs, high-rise hotels and a lot of social media culture. Characters like Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest and Real Dimez are part of the city's music scene.
Leonida Keys
Jason lives in the Keys, a string of islands joined by long bridges over open water. It looks laid back, with boats, fishing and bars, but this is also where he does jobs for local drug runners like Brian Heder.
Grassrivers
Leonida's Everglades. Tall buildings give way to swamp, mangroves, small homes and boats with big propellers on the back.
Port Gellhorn
A once-popular vacation spot on the west coast. Cheap motels, closed attractions and empty strip malls haven't brought the tourists back, and the town runs on a rougher economy now.
Ambrosia
An inland town beside Lake Leonida, built around the Allied Crystal sugar refinery. A local biker gang controls a lot of what happens here.
Mount Kalaga National Park
The wild north of the state, up against the border. Hunting, fishing and off-road trails, with backwoods communities who would rather the government stayed away.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has not said how big the map is. Numbers you see online are fan estimates, so treat them with care. What we know is that the map covers a full state with six varied regions, from a big city to open water and wilderness. We will add the real size when it is confirmed.
GTA 6 map vs GTA 5 map
GTA 5 is set in San Andreas: the city of Los Santos plus the countryside and desert of Blaine County. GTA 6 swaps California for Florida and spreads the action across more distinct regions, including an island chain and wetlands that GTA 5 doesn't have. See the full GTA 6 vs GTA 5 comparison.
